The aim of this post is to provide you with a guide on how to create a completely new Organisational structure in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, from the company down or simply extend one using the Organizational Structure SSCUI (Self Service Configuration UI), also referred to as the Flex Org Tool.

To help illustrate this example (and taking the on-boarding template to do so) we will try to create the following organizational structure in an existing US country solution (the country is somewhat irrelevant as this could be performed regardless of the country).

Whilst it is not of great importance the way you proceed to create these organizational elements (except in those cases where an organizational element might be a pre-requisite to the creation of another) we recommend you adopt a top down approach and create your organizational elements in the sequence shown below (the elements not covered in the document are shown in italic):

  • Create Company (CMP)
  • Create Company Code (CCD)
  • Assign Company Code (CCD) to Company (CMP)
  • Create Plant (PLT)
  • Create Purchasing Organization (POR)
  • Assign Purchasing Organization (POR) to Plant (PLT)
  • Create Sales Organization (SOR)
  • Create Storage Location (STL)
  • Create Shipping Point (SPT)
  • Assign Shipping Point (SPT) to Plant (PLT)
  • Create Distribution Channel (DCH)
  • Create Division (DIV)
  • Create Sales Office (SOF)
  • Create Sales Group (SGR)
  • Create Distribution Chain (SLC)
  • Create Sales Area (SLA)
  • Assign Sales Office (SOF) to Sales Area (SLA)
  • Assign Plant (PLT) to Distribution Chain (SLC)
  • Create Personnel Area (PAR)
  • Create Personnel Subarea (PSA)

Whist this document was put together during the 1705 release of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, I would like to point out that the Organizational Structure app has undergone slight changes in 1708. That said, this should not prevent you from making use of this document.
